Artist/Song Writer K-Presston is back with a new tape. This time, it is all about the idea of a dream, and the sounds used for the tape is meant to put it’s listeners into a “dream like” trance/state. When asked about his musical progression K-Presston stated: “2010 was pretty monumental year for me, so I wrote about it and Liars: Cheaters: Lovers & Believers was born. 2011 was a very cynical year for me. World got colder, circles got smaller but I still dreamed. Not a teen dream though. I was in a place where I knew I wanted something. I just couldn’t put my finger on what that something was. I was stuck, lost in wanting something that was there and also not there. As always the tape picks up where the last one left off and so we have Reverie.” Most of the songs on Reverie are chill and soothing and are a good way to freshen up the library.

Diplo took to his SoundCloud to lay this track on us and the best way I can describe it is a combination of electro and soul, a sound that somehow Diplo and Usher manage to pull off and pull off well. For those of you who aren’t having the best Valentine’s Day, Usher and Diplo have a breakup song that may make you feel just a little bit better.

I’ve been a John Legend fan ever since Get Lifted but as of late, his music hasn’t really impressed me…until now. John Legend’s newest single is definitely worth a post on my part and a listen on yours. A smooth track that you’ll find yourself singing along with after a listen or two – John Legend doesn’t disappoint on this one.

John Legend (feat. Ludacris) – Tonight (Best You Ever Had)

Frank Ocean took to his Tumblr today and released another short track (just like he did recently with “Tears”) while he has been working on hiss debut album on Def Jam. This track is real smooth – short but sweet.

Frank Ocean – Voodoo

This track has been floating around the internet for a bit with tags but I finally have a tag-less version of Chris Brown and David Guetta’s latest collaboration to post for you guys. A very soulful track, “Don’t Wake Me Up” may be produced by David Guetta but doesn’t feature your typical super upbeat/party time Guetta beat. More of a R&B track compared to their previous collaboration of “Yeah 3X”, I’m sure we’ll be seeing this track featured in Chris Brown’s next album Fortune.

Chris Brown – Don’t Wake Me Up (Prod. By David Guetta)

Man, oh man, where has the time gone. It’s been a minute since I’ve posted a damn track up in this bitch and for that, to the faithful, forgiving fans of 201beats I do apologize. Life has been crazy lately for the kid, I’m talking bombing finals, breaking bones, and getting teeth pulled. Can’t catch a break over here, but fuck it, its a new year right? Basically I’m about to drop some musical knowledge up on the masses with 6 tracks that I’ve been listening to lately. Some old, some new, pretty much all hip-hop except that first and last tracks which are just some crazy sounds. Iunno fam just been in that Rap kinda mood. Anyways, enjoy.

Little Dragon – Ritual Union

YO! This track is wild, Little Dragon is some crazy dudes and this song stays stuck in my head.

Common -Sweet

Common is the boy, enough said.

Young Jeezy – By the Way

By the way…this song is 3 years old and it still goes hammer rammer. I started fucking with this track again when I was helping my boy pick out his walk up song for baseball next season.

Childish Gambino – Heartbeat

Pretty sweet of me to post this below Common and Young, but still this song hits me in my sweet spot ya know what I mean…pause.

Curren$y – Plot Music

If you’ve paid attention to any of my previous posts you know that I’m a huge Curren$y fan. This songs pretty decent.

Bill Withers – Use Me

If I wanted someone to write the soundtrack to my life Bill Withers would be a sure front runner. I love this song, if you’ve never heard it do yourselves a favor and do so.

Probably the best leak off Common’s The Dreamer, The Believer that I’ve heard so far. The song incorporates the ever so soothing vocals of John Legend that flows perfectly alongside Common’s lyrics. The Dreamer, The Believer is set to drop on December 20th, so for those of you looking for a nice holiday present…I wouldn’t rule that album out as a nice stocking stuffer.

Common (feat. John Legend) – The Believer

I was really torn on this mixtape.  By torn I mean I wasn’t even sure if I should download it or not, but a couple days ago I went through with it.  Since then I’ve listened to  it a few times and come to the verdict that the tape as a whole is extraordinarily ordinary.  However, there were four songs that I liked.  I’m glad I downloaded it just because of these four songs.  Lucky for you I’m here to provide you with the highlights.  If you choose to download the entire tape, then I guess all I can say is that you are not only a brave soul but you are also a loyal fan.

Mike Posner – 21 Days (Chill to This)

Mike Posner – They Call Me (feat. Bei Major) (Ride to This)

Mike Posner – Attitudes (feat. Casey Veggies (Blaze to This)

Mike Posner – Marauder Music (feat. Blackbear) (Drive in the Dark to This)

Official CDQ release of Frank Ocean’s song ”Back”. This track is really smooth and relaxing to listen to. Frank Ocean is becoming one of my favorite artists these days and he does not disappoint on this track which virtually has no faults to it.

Frank Ocean – Back

It’s hard to believe, because the UK based producer has been developing his sound and providing us with great jams and remixes for some time now, but this is Star Slinger’s official debut single.
